First Night for RedBull’s Three Days in Philly with Girlpool
Philly-founded band Girlpool came home from L.A. to headline a RedBull sponsored show for the city that loved them first. The Philadelphia show at Underground Arts kicked off the band’s U.S. tour for their newest album, Powerplant. The show started with openers Queen of Jeans and The Dove & the Wolf. Both bands brought a groovy yet calming vibe to the electric evening. The audience sipped on RedBulls and danced with both bands while the excitement for Girlpool stirred. Once The Dove & the Wolf stepped off the stage, the gig’s crew members were rushed in breaking down equipment and making room for the headlining band. The crowd excitedly exploded when Girlpool finally entered the stage around 11:00p.m. as a full 4-person group. Many new songs and oldies were played while the crowd swayed, sang, and danced along. Towards the end of the set the drummer and saxophonist left the stage for the two original band members to play the popular first track from their second album, “Ideal World”. As Girlpool announced their last song of the night, their fans were ready to leave it all on the venue floor, singing and dancing around. Rejoicing the return of Girlpool to Philadelphia, PA.
