Philadelphia Local: Daddylap

Daddylap is Rock group from the Philadelphia/NJ area. The band consists of Jessie Sabella (vocals), Dan Coppinger (guitar), Jeff Walters (bass) and Alex Mihailovic (drums). The foursome formed Daddylap in 2014 and had their first music release States of Mind (EP) out in 2017.

Upon first listen of States of Mind, you could grasp how intensely talented and in-sync the members of Daddylap are but you have to see them live to truly see it and feel it. Daddylap opened a show in Philadelphia at Boot & Saddle on June 3rd and left the stage with the crowd completely electrified. The pure talent and energy Daddylap brings to the stage is hard to find in up and coming bands these days. In addition to talent and energy, Daddylap is also extremely professional and fun, it is hard to believe the band only started 4 years ago and has not played shows regularly and steadily.

Daddylap debuted some refreshing new songs at the Boot & Saddle show and the have many more they are currently working on. I got to sit in on a band practice last month and watch a groovy riff turn into a seven-minute jam that sounded so good and synced up that it could have been a song they had been practicing for months. I also got to witness their new song “Night Out (Lights Out)” make a transformation within two hours and become a polished finished (almost) product. “Night Out (Lights Out)” could appear on the next Daddylap EP or their first LP (fingers crossed) so look out for that and in the meantime get rocking out to States of Mind.
