The Gaslight Anthem Return

and they visited Philly on their 2024 tour supporting their newest album History Books.

In an interview with the Rolling Stones, The Gaslight Anthem lead vocalist, Brian Fallon said "I don't have anything to say with Gaslight'. Those five records, that's what you got" and we are so glad he finally has something else to say because newest album History Books is a revelation. Fallon manages to elevate the bands sound into a more mature vibe.

At the Fillmore in Philadelphia, Pinkshift and Joyce Manor opened for The Gaslight Anthem. Joyce Manor, another band that’s been playing since the early 2000s, brought an incredible energy onto the stage. They bounced and jumped to the beat of the songs while the crowd sung along. The rock and roll hand gesture was held high in the air by many fans the entire night.

The Gaslight Anthem opened with their 2010 album’s title track “American Slang”. It is to no one’s surprise that the crowd knew every word. In fact, there was not one song that the crowd did not know any word to. It felt like a true American Rock concert. The lighting throughout the night aided the music perfectly. When Fallon was having his moment on the mic the remainder of the band supported him among the smoke of the extremely tasteful fog machine, when the chorus kicked back in the stage illuminated fully and the entire band was present. Each set was accompanied by an engaging light show that added to the ambience.

Though the tour was formed to back the new album the show was truly for every fan old and new, multiple songs were played from almost every single record. The fans were prepared for a night full of the newest music regardless, they knew every word to every song from History Books. There was not a single lull in the evening, the music seemed to never stop one crowd pleasing song directly into the next. It felt like the band extended off the stage and included every patron in attendance.

The final song played from the band’s discography was “The 59 Sound” a throwback from their second studio album. Finally they closed out with their very talented opener Pinkshift, joining them to sing Nirvana’s song, “Smells Like Teen Spirit”.

The Gaslight Anthem is back in a big way. Check out their sixth studio album “History Books” wherever you stream your music.

Welcome back, The Gaslight Anthem.
